Besides the M550d xDrive Sedan and Touring the newly created Bmw M Performance Automobiles also unveiled the new X5 M50d and X6 M50d models. As expected, these are also powered by the new tri-turbocharged 3.0-liter delivering an impressive 280 kW/381 hp and peak torque of 740 Newton metres (546 lb-ft). With these numbers, the BMW X5 M50d accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.4 seconds while the X6 M50d in 5.3 seconds. Top speed is limited to 250 km/h or 155 mph. Regarding the fuel consumption, the X5 will offer 7.5 litres per 100 kilometres (37.7 mpg imp) while the X6 7.7 l/100 km (36.7 mpg imp).
CO2 emissions are 199 grams per kilometre for the BMW X5 M50d and 204 g/km for the BMW X6 M50d. Bot models feature the eight-speed Sports automatic transmission with enhanced gearshift dynamics and the xDrive all-wheel-drive system. Bmw M GmbH also worked on the chassis in order to offer the agility of the Bmw X models. Regarding the design, the vehicles feature new air inlets for the engine, Ferric Grey metallic exterior mirror caps and air intake bars (a distinguishing feature of BMW M Performance Automobiles).
The BMW X5 M50d comes as standard with 19-inch wheels, while the X6 M50d offers 20-inch wheels. Moreover, 20-inch light-alloy wheels in Ferric Grey developed exclusively for the BMW M Performance Automobiles are available as an option. The 2013 Bmw X5 M50d will cost 82,300 euros while the 2013 Bmw X6 M50d will cost 85,800 euros, which makes it the most expensive model from BMW M Performance Automobiles.
