Bmw Z10: the new Audi R8 rival

It is a necessity for the BMW Z10 ED green supercar to offer an enthusiastically active driving experience as well as demonstrating eco-friendly technology according to the company's director of design. The model, which was introduced in January by us, is currently being transformed into an $110,000 (€86,000) rival to the Audi R8 and there are suggestions from company insiders that production is most likely for the front-engined rear-wheel-drive car.

The car will come with the carmaker's Efficient Dynamics, plus stop-start and active aerodynamics, and will ultimately be equipped with systems like a heat collector that converts waste energy in the exhaust gases into electricity. Adrian van Hooydonk, the new BMW group design director, however, points out that the Z10 should provide an interesting riding experience together with low emissions of carbon. This would be a good way for showing what BMW is capable of.

For BMW the Z10 is the answer to the question of the car of the future. Delivering an exciting driving experience in the future is the key to the BMW marquee. This is surely the foundation of BMW. The current economic downturn however may make it tricky to launch the Z10 ED with a supercar body style. The lightweight car is being currently developed at Technik in Munich where many remarkable BMW concepts have been created.
