BMW's all-new Megacity electric city car will be launched in 2013, the carmaker finally confirmed at a press conference. Information about the project has been dangled in front of the public during the past weeks. BMW made the confirmation right before the Beijing motor show is set to open. In the past, BMW had said that the launch would take place before 2015. BMW disclosed last week that the car will be placed under a new sub-brand. However, BMW has yet to clarify whether it will use its Mini sub-brand or make a new brand. The car, which is dubbed as a "new vehicle for urban mobility," will be assembled at BMW's Leipzig plant. The construction will feature carbonfiber-reinforced plastics that will be produced at a new BMW plant being constructed with partner SGL Automotive Carbon Fibers LLC in Moses Lake in the US.
