Sahara Force India has unveiled its new car -- the VJM05 -- at Silverstone. Present to pull the covers off the 2012 challenger were Paul Di Resta and Nico Hulkenberg. They were joined by Jules Bianchi, the reserve driver. The VJM05 is the second car developed under the supervision of Andrew Green, its Technical Director. The team is hoping to improve on its sixth place finish in the constructors' championship. Team Principal and Managing Director, Dr. Vijay Mallya, said that it is aiming to get to fifth place.

To accomplish this, it has to start the new campaign by offering the type of form it had showed in the second half of 2011. Andrew Green said that for 2012, the car appears “more refined; a lot racier and a lot more purposeful.” He pointed out that the aerodynamic concepts are being used and that the performance during testing has been “encouraging." Mercedes engines will be used to power the Sahara Force India cars. Its gearbox comes from McLaren Applied Technologies. This would be the second season with the Mercedes KERS.

Nico Hulkenberg said: "I saw the new car in the wind tunnel a few times and followed its progress during the winter. It looks aggressive and fast, but we won't know where we stand until we get out there and compete against the others. Preparations for the new season have been full-on with simulator sessions and lots of fitness training. I feel ready to get back to racing and I'm excited to find out what the new car feels like next week."
