Robert Bosch GmbH, a Germany-based components supplier, has disclosed that it broke ground on a spark plug factory in the east China city of Nanjing last week. The production capacity of this 1.1 billion yuan ($172 million) facility will be more than 100 million spark plugs annually once it begins operations in 2013, making it the biggest spark plug production factory of Bosch all over the world.
This plant will supply components to vehicle manufacturers in China, says Autonews. The components will also be sold in other countries through the company's worldwide sales and service network.
Moreover, the plant will manufacture brake pads and diagnostic equipment for spark plugs. Once the new plant becomes operational, the company's current spark plug plant in Nanjing will be demolished.
