Brabus tunes the Mercedes-Benz S350 BlueTEC to meet new EURO VI emission standards

Brabus Mercedes-Benz S350 BlueTEC

The tuning specialists from Brabus have gotten their hands on a Mercedes S350 BlueTEC and made it the first tuned car in the world to meet the new EURO VI exhaust emission standard. The car received an ECO PowerXtra D6S performance kit, boosting its power to 313 hp (higher by 54 hp compared to the regular version) and a peak torque of 690 Nm. With this tuning kit, the car can accelerate from zero to sixty in 6.5 seconds and reach a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).

What’s unusual is that Brabus isn’t bragging about the car’s power levels. Instead, the tuner is boasting that it is the first to offer a Euro 6-compliant tuned vehicle. The new standards will actually not take effect until 2014 in Europe. The S350’s fuel-efficiency is so high that it could actually comply with an imaginary Euro 7 standard.

The car’s engine has been modified to emit 30% less harmful gases than the standard (170 mg/km). Brabus said that the Mercedes S 350 BlueTEC is one of the first diesel-powered cars on the market that meets the EURO VI emission standard. What makes Brabus different from other tuners is that it has its own engine development department equipped with state-of-the-art test-bench technology and emission laboratory.
