Ford spokesman Jay Ward revealed today that the pricing for the 2011 Explorer will start from $28,995, which means that the new car will be with $1,000 less expensive than the existing model. The standard Explorer will be offered with a front-wheel drive, a 3.5-liter Ti-VCT V6 engine capable to deliver 290 horsepower and 255 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and is expected to deliver more than 20 percent better fuel economy comparing it wit the previous Explorer V6 model. Buyers can also choose a smaller but more advanced 2.0-liter EcoBoost I-4 engine capable to deliver the power of a normally aspirated V6 without compromising four-cylinder fuel economy. This engine delivers 237 hp at 5,500 rpm and 250 lb.-ft. of torque from 1,700 through 4,000 rpm.
