Brembo SpA is now included in Ford Motor Company’s global Aligned Business Framework (ABF), a group of preferred suppliers.
Ford intends to develop a business rapport based on partnership and closer cooperation with those in this list. On the other hand, the ABF companies go into long-term relationships with Ford to reinforce collaboration and drive mutual profitability and technology development. Brembo gets on this list as Ford combines global vehicle platforms and engine architectures while enhancing part commonality throughout its product line. Ford is focusing on expanding its traditional home base of the US and Europe to the growing markets of Brazil and China, where sustained growth is expected in the years to come.
Brembo can be found in 12 countries on three continents. Brembo, along with other preferred suppliers in the ABF, are given the chance of developing a closer relationship with Ford. They also get the opportunity (in a long-term scenario of partnership and research) to share information with regards to new products and business plans. The goal is to work with Ford to develop a global selection of high quality automotive products.
It was in 2005 that the Ford Aligned Business Framework was set. In 2009, about half of Ford's global production purchases were sourced to ABF suppliers, a 34% increase from 2006. Presently, Brembo provides Ford with brake discs for the Focus, Fusion and MKZ – Lincoln. It also supplies brake systems for the Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 and Ford Mustang GT (optional) in the US.
