The new general director of General Motors’ U.S. dealer network is Brian Small, who currently serves as the general manager of U.S. fleet and commercial sales. Small, who is 56 years old, is the chosen replacement for Jim Bunnell, who was named as the head of the dealer network for GM Europe (a new position). Small has led GM's U.S. fleet and commercial sales since March 2010. These new appointments take place as GM is working to raise Chevrolet sales in Europe while still working to revitalize its Opel brand, which has suffered from the financial difficulties in the continent.
Last December, GM named Susan Docherty, formerly head of GM's international sales and marketing operations, to take control of Chevrolet Europe. In the meantime, Ed Peper, who is 49 years old, was the successor of Small as the head of U.S. fleet and commercial sales. Since the middle of 2009, Peper served as Cadillac's general sales manager and from 2005 to 2009, he was the vice president of Chevrolet.
Henderson clarified that they won’t be finding anyone to fill Peper's job at Cadillac. This means that Cadillac's regional sales managers will now be reporting directly to Kurt McNeil, who is the luxury brand's vice president of sales and service. Henderson explained that this set-up is identical to the organizational structure of GM’s other brands. Bunnell, aged 56, served as the head of the U.S. dealer network since March 2010. He would now be based in Zurich, Switzerland.
