As you may know already, Bugatti delivered the last Veyron in June and now the company has plans for a new vehicle. All the eyes from Bugatti are looking now at the Galibier Concept, a four-door saloon, which was designed to be one of the fastest cars in the world. According to the latest reports from Autocar, it appears that Volkswagen Group, the company who owns Bugatti, will decide if the vehicle will be produced or not. Sources say that if the car will be produced, it will be significantly altered from the concept car originally displayed.
According to Bugatti boss Wolfgang Durheimer, the Galibier is now in the second half of the design phase and will be presented to the Volkswagen Group board before Christmas. Apparently, half of the Bugatti Veyron owners have seen the Galibier and been in the car already. It seems that this move made Bugatti change the vehicle.
“You will still recognize the design from the concept, but now this is a design I can be 100% behind.” said Wolfgang Durheimer. For those who don’t know, the Bugatti Galibier Concept was inspired by the legendary Atlantic Coupé and was powered by the same W16 engine found on the Veyron, delivering 900 hp.
“I will suggest we continue development, but there will be some remarkable changes from the original concept,” said Durheimer. “The design will be different, especially from the B-pillar back, the ingress and regress to the rear seats will be improved, as will the legroom and ergonomics, the car will be a little longer, and the power of the engine will be at least four figures.”
