Even when gasoline prices in Europe are escalating and as electric vehicles are the focus of politicians, the supercar is still alive and kicking. For example, Bugatti raised the performance of the Veyron and built the SuperVeyron. This wasn’t even necessary since not even the new McLaren P1 could beat the Bugatti Veyron. Of course, fans are ecstatic that the high-end VW division raised the bar. There are reports that the Bugatti SuperVeyron will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show next fall. What makes it super are its use of more carbon fiber, higher horsepower, and an incredible top speed. Ferdinand Piech himself will drive the Ultra Bugatti, which is powered by a boosted 8.0-liter (or 9.6-liter) engine, says Automobile. It produces 1600 hp, which raises the maximum speed from 259 mph to 288 mph. It is believed to have a 0-62mph acceleration time of 1.8 seconds, which is better than that of the upcoming Ferrari Enzo replacement and even that of Sebastian Vettel’s Red Bull racer. The improvement is the result of its drop in weight of nearly 550 pounds compared to the Veyron SuperSport W16. The limited-edition Veyron weighs 3,527 pounds, leading to a surreal power-to-weight ratio of one kg (2.2 pounds) for each hp. It would basically have the same body but it will have totally new front and rear ends with even more advanced active aerodynamics. It has a price tag of over $2.5 million.
