Buick, a General Motor brand once criticized for unimaginative automobiles, is enjoying a series of successes these days. For one, the Buick Verano has been named one of the finalists in the recent Car of the Year competition by Motor Trend. It has also been rumored that the model almost grabbed the award. The vehicle is said to have the coveted title if it comes with a more powerful engine, which will be coming next year.
The compact Verano sedan shares a platform with the Chevrolet Cruze. Other than that, the vehicle features one-of-a-kind styling and powertrains, as well as a wide array of quiet tuning. The Verano is predicted to be a hit, but it is still too early to analyze sales. In November, four units were sold as production was winding up.
Meanwhile, sales of the Buick Enclave are on a record pace. Since it was introduced in 2007, it has not changed much. Sales were expected to be declining, but instead, it’s near to hitting a record, thanks to the upswing in the market. Through November, 52,837 Enclaves were sold -- an 8 percent increase from the same period in 2010. Buick's total sales are up 18 percent this year. Moreover, 162,659 Buicks rolled out of dealerships through November -- without the Verano sales and its new crossover. [source: Autonews]
