2017 Porsche 911 R now on eBay for a whopping price of $1,250,000!

Article by Christian Andrei, on April 15, 2016

The 2017 Porsche 911 R was first unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Only 991 units will be produced for this line of 911 R and will be expected to cost more than the GT3 RS. The newest 911 R will come with the same 1967 911 R livery and will be using GT3 foundations and engine.

911 R is practically a GT3 except for the PDK transmission and rear wing. The two are nearly identical from the front down to its rear bumpers – which include the rear fenders, wheels, side skirts and even the mirrors. However one may think of the 2017 911 R to be similar to the GT3 but there are several differences. Instead of a wing, the 911 R engine lid has a conventional grille and a retractable spoiler taken from Carrera models as well as a redesigned front spoiler lip and rear underbody diffuser.

The 911 R is 50 kg lighter than the GT3 because of the material used for its front and rear hoods and fenders (made of carbon fiber) as well as its magnesium-made roof. The 911 R has a 4.0-liter engine that can produce 500 horsepower and 339 lb.-ft. of torque similar to the GT3 RS.

Unfortunately, it comes in a manual-only transmission but is able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. It has an estimated top speed of 200 mph. For a minimum of $184,900, one can already drop a deposit for a 2017 911 R at any local Porsche dealership.

Only 20 production samples were built and there seems to be people who are already posting their 2017 911 Rs on eBay. Is it legit? Let’s try to find out. There seems to be someone in eBay selling a yet-to-be-delivered 2017 911 R at a whopping price of $1,250,000.

The seller also claims to own one of 25 street versions of a 911 GT1 which apparently is also on sale for a price of 4.25 million Euros. The only detail about the seller is that they are located in Germany. What makes it even more convincing that this seller is a crook is that only stock images of the vehicles are posted with one photo with a Photoshopped “buy it now” license plate up front.

A lot of people have been doing business through the internet and it is important for buyers to know which ones are credible and which ones are making a run for their money. If one has the capability to make a deposit for the 2017 Porsche 911 R, then they should hurry because this one is on the verge of being sold out.
