24-karat gold and diamond encrusted tires sold in Dubai for record-breaking $600,000

If you’re looking for anything and everything luxurious, Dubai is the place for you. The city is a haven for people who are on the lookout for the most expensive item there is. From jewellery to designer items and of course, the most expensive vehicles, Dubai is the place to be. And it wouldn’t be shocking if this would be the place where one could purchase the world’s most expensive tires. Yes, you read it right. Apparently, Dubai-based rubber company Z Tyre sold a set of tires for a jaw-dropping price of $600,000.

For those of you who think that these were just regular tires, then think again. At first glance, the tires would look plain except for a thunderbolt “Z” in between what looks like checkered racing designs but apparently these embellishments are not ordinary painted designs. Up close, the thunderbolt-looking “Z” is made of diamonds while the checkered design is an alternating pattern of 24-karat gold and rubber. Other than these, the Italian craftspeople who created these tires kept it simple but elegant.

Z Tyres says that the proceeds from the tires’ sale will go to charity called the Zenises Foundation, which is being ran by the outfit’s parent corporation Zenises. The said foundation is said to support educational activities and aims to improve access to education around the world. As vague as the foundation’s mission may be, we’re just hoping the proceeds will go to where it’s said to go and that it’ll help a lot of kids around the world. The sale has also been recognized by The Guinness Book of World Records as the most expensive set of tires that has ever been sold.

Here we are thinking that Bugatti Veyron’s $30,000 Michelin Super Sport tires were the most expensive set of tires. We’re just not that sure if these 24-karat gold and diamond embellished tires would grip as well as a set of Pirellil P Zeros or Bridgestone Potenzas, or if it would last as long as the Veyron Michelins. We’re just a wee bit of concerned that these tires would attract attention from thieves more than it would attract curious onlookers and car enthusiasts.

But we think it was a wise move from Z Tyre’s designers to keep it simple. Whatever it was that got Z Tyres thinking when they made these tires, it sure is one luxury that only a few could actually afford. We just really hope they’d be of the best quality as tires should be. Now everyone – and we mean thieves and curious car enthusiasts – will be on the lookout for these thousand-dollar “car shoes”.
