Customized Lexus LX 570 convertible is for sale in Middle East for over $350,000

Lexus has just recently revealed the 2016 LX 570. This version of Lexus’ top tier SUV has undergone quite the facelift even as it has always had a reputable standing as one of the “prettiest” SUVs that have ever graced this planet.

The new 2016 Lexus LX 570 now has a more upscale look which includes a massive satin-chromed spindle grille with a revamped bumper, new LED headlights, and a restyled LED fog lights. Furthermore, there were a few modifications on the rear bumper with new chrome-detailed taillights. It also comes with a new 20- and optional 21-inch ten spoke alloy as part of the exterior enhancements.

The infotainment system inside the cabin has also been updated with a few standards such as the 12.3-inch display, 4.2-inch instrument cluster display and a panoramic view camera; it also has LED ambient lighting installed inside the cabin. There are also new wood trim selections for the LX 570 as well as a three-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel and a new analog clock. And there’s still more! The Rear Seat Entertainment System now has 11.6-inch dual screens. For those who are always on the go, the 2016 LX 570 also offers wireless charging.

The 2016 Lexus LX 570 continues to be powered by a 5.7-liter V8 engine but has a new eight-speed automatic gearbox to improve its performance and efficiency. Moreover, it now comes with a New Drive Mode Select so that the driver has the freedom to change powertrain and suspension. Lastly, the new LX 570 continues to make sure that its passengers are safe on the road and so new safety features have also been installed.

All these enhancements were done to make the 2016 Lexus LX 570 bigger, bolder and classier and yet there are just some who can’t get enough. Apparently, there has been a convertible version of this sophisticated SUV that is now up for grabs in the Middle East.

Apparently, someone thought it was fun to drive a convertible three-row eight-seater SUV. Chances are that the convertible LX 570 has been the ingenious work of Newport Convertible Engineering, known for tuning cars and turning them into convertibles. News of the convertible 570 has now been circulating and it’s receiving more criticisms than praise. After all, who would want to drive around the desert in broad daylight in a convertible, right?

The LX 570 convertible just looks too awkward to be appreciated. But what can you say, all weird things come with unreasonably high prices. The one that’s being sold in the Middle East has been priced at $353,938 (about 1.3 million AED) with zero kilometers on its odometer. Is that even remotely reasonable? Most of us won’t agree but we’re sure that someone will snatch it off the market. In the U.S., a brand new LX 570 costs only $88,800 -- that’s more than a $250,000 difference. Granting that the car has been customized, we still think it’s not worth the price.

Although we’re cringing at the sight of a chopped-top Lexus LX 570, we’re pretty sure there’s someone out there who’s willing to shell out thousands of dollars for a bizarre convertible SUV. Here’s a tip to the next owner and passengers: make sure you get some sunscreen on you and make sure you’ve got lots more of it stashed away in your glove compartment.
