The 5 Worst Lamborghini Concept Car Blunders

Article by Christian A., on April 13, 2016

Lamborghini is known for its eccentric designs as well as for making the least number of cars among all the automakers of the world. There are more concept designs than the actual number of products from Lamborghini.

Actually, there’s a lot of reasons why there are only a few of these concept cars that are put into production but one of the main reasons that makes sense is that there are just some concepts that are more bizarre than anything that our human minds are able to comprehend.

Some of these concepts looked far worse than ridiculous. Here are five of those concepts that Lamborghini should never have brought into existence.

Lamborghini Egoista Concept

First on our list is the Lamborghini Egoista. This concept car was named after the Italian word which means “selfish” because of its single-seat cockpit design. It sort of looks like something Lamborghini makes but it looks more like a crossbreed between a Veneno and KTM X-Bow with a hint of Batman’s Tumbler.

The cockpit design was inspired by the Apache attack helicopter and fighter jets. The result is a weird vehicle that has the qualities of a fighter jet, a helicopter and a racing car. It actually looks a bit cool but its out-of-a-scifi-racing-movie look is just a no-no for Lamborghini.

Lamborghini Marzal Concept

Another one straight out of a sci-fi movie is the Marzal. The name itself sounds out of this world, what more the look? For one, the Marzal looks like a mobile greenhouse with its solar panel looking louvered rear window and its all-glass gullwing doors.

The glass doors were a cause for concern for company founder Ferrucio Lamborghini because it would give a full view of a lady’s legs. The louvered rear window is an atrocious design that reminds people of a video game named “Q*bert”.

An additional downside of the Marzal is that it is the only Lamborghini that was ever built with a six-cylinder engine that is only able to produce a measly 175 horsepower. The one good thing about the Marzal is that it has inspired the looks of the tamer Lamborghini Espada.

Lamborghini Sogna Concept

Art & Tech designer Ryoji Yamazaki’s version of the Lamborghini Countach has gone terribly wrong. This green goblin of a car, the Sogna, is based off from the Countach but isn’t really an official Lamborghini concept.

Other than its hideous looks, it has been priced higher than any good-looking Lamborghini with a price tag of $3 million dollars. The only good thing about this concept car is that it is powered by a 5.2-liter V2 that produces 455 horsepower on the rear wheels. To top it off, it has a top speed of 202 mph. But that isn’t enough to take the Sogna off our list.

Lamborghini Cheetah Concept

In the later part of the 1970s, Lamborghini was contracted by the U.S. military to create a new off-roader. It gave birth to the 4x4 called the Cheetah.

There have been a lot of issues with regards to this concept car but the three main issues are its design (which for many was a rip-off), its engine was mounted at the back, and the fact that this 4x4 wouldn’t be of any use during a war because it was too damn heavy.

The only good thing that Lamborghini was able to get from the Cheetah is that it became the inspiration to create the Rambo Lambo (or the LM002) and the upcoming Lamborghini Urus.

Lamborghini Pregunta Concept

And last on our list of Lamborghini concept atrocities is the Pregunta. Coming from the Spanish word which means “question”, the Pregunta is definitely something that makes a lot of people question its presence. It was powered by a 530 hp V12 and had a top speed of 207 mph.

It was based on the Diablo but the all-wheel drive was ditched and instead, it had a rear-drive set-up. The notable “defect” of the Pregunta is its “half roof” and “barely there lights”. The Pregunta was designed by French coachbuilders Carrosserie Heuliez and was the last time that a coachbuilder was tasked to design a Lamborghini.
