Cadillac Converj production delayed due to the financial crisis

The latest Cadillac Converj Concept car is so designed that the production version would appear just like it said GM vice-chairman Bob Lutz. The exterior of the concept is not the only part that is production-identical but even the powerplant under the hood will be too. The latest Voltec plug-in hybrid powertrain is the exact same unit from the forthcoming Volt which will be launched in the later part of next year.
Moreover, GM will construct a factory in Michigan soon along with LG Chem to develop more advanced lithium-ion batteries needed to power the hybrid system. In spite of the presence of everything it needs, scarcity of funds and more important vehicles in the pipeline have unfortunately gotten rid of all the chances of the Cadillac Converj Concept to reach production in the near future.
Lutz said that before the Converj could receive a production go signal, they have to show that they have the cash first and, he added that they have not done anything in that direction as of the moment.
