Cadillac Escalade considered the hottest ride… by thieves!

US car thieves are targeting models, not by its fuel efficiency but by its chrome, horsepower and Hemis. The Highway Loss Data Institute provided a report of what cars get stolen the most, highlighting the thieves preference for performance cars and monstrous SUVs and pickups. Kim Hazelbaker, the institute's senior vice president, said that fuel sippers are not in this list. The most stolen vehicle in the US is still the Cadillac Escalade, which got the title for six of the past seven reports. It is trailed by the Ford F-250 pickup, Infiniti G37, Hemi Dodge Charger (not the V-6) and Chevrolet Corvette Z06. And the least stolen is Volvo's S80 sedan. Owners of the Saturn Vue, Nissan Murano and Honda Pilot also donesn´t have to worry much since these are the vehicles that scored low. The Institute looked at 2007-2009 models. In an interview with USA Today, Cadillac said that in attempts to prevent the Escalade from being stolen, it has been fitted with an engine immobilizer and a steering-wheel lock with a computer chip in the key fob. On the other hand, Volvo commented that the S80 is worth stealing but crooks turn away due to its intricately coded key fob.
