Cadillac Lambda-based Crossover gets green light!

A Lambda-based Cadillac crossover will be made soon, according to Karl Stracke, General Motors' vice president of global engineering. Before GM went into bankruptcy, Cadillac had disclosed that it would design a large, 7-passenger crossover based on GM's Lambda platform architecture that's already used for the Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia.

But this plan was set aside when GM entered bankruptcy proceedings and subsequently emerged as a leaner company with government support. Stracke told Inside Line that the plan for a Lambda-based Cadillac crossover is now "absolutely a go." The timing hasn't been disclosed yet but there are speculations that the large crossover will have a similar look to the Cadillac XTS Concept unveiled this year in Detroit. It's likely that GM will use some version of its direct-injected 3.6-liter V6 but it's also possible that GM will use turbocharging too.
