2010 Alfa Romeo Giulietta to use Chrysler’s hybrid powertrain

2010 Alfa Romeo GiuliettaChrysler will take over the research and development of hybrid powertrains as part of the partnership with Fiat. The resulting technologies that will be developed will be used by both companies.

Chrysler will be responsible for the raw build of the technology, while Fiat will take charge of the fine tuning of the powertrain to make it a fit for each brand. An InsideLine report said that the Alfa Romeo Giulietta will be the first Italian car to get an American hybrid powertrain. The car is offered in numerous engines: For petrol, it has the 1.4TB (120 HP) and 1.4TB MultiAir (170 HP); while the diesel engines include 1.6 JTDM (105 HP) and 2.0 JTDM (170 HP) as well as an exclusive 1750 TBi – 235 HP with Quadrifoglio Verde configuration. Rumor: Alfa Romeo 4C coming to the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance

Pininfarina Alfa Romeo 2uettottantaAlfa Romeo will mark its centennial this August at Pebble Beach, where it is a featured marque at the Concours d’Elegance. Rumors are saying that the company will be unveiling the 4C, a compact, lightweight sports car concept, during this event.

According to an insider from Fiat’s headquarters, the 8C has had much success but that what they need right now is a follow-up model that’s more affordable and can attract a wider customer base. It’s believed that the 4C will not be built using high-end materials like carbon fiber and it certainly will not be equipped with a Ferrari-built engine. Continued after the jump!

Geneva Motor Show: 2010 Alfa Romeo Giulietta

2010 Alfa Romeo GiuliettaThe new Alfa Romeo Giulietta made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show as the official replacement for the 147 hatchback. As you may know already, the Giulietta continues the tradition of Alfa Romeo with its stylish front grille but also introduces daytime running LEDs, as well as hidden rear door handles, seen also on the Seat Leon. Inside, the Italian design is resembled in each inch of the dashboard, seats and steering wheel. Under the hood we have three petrol engines: 88 kW (120 PS) 1.4TB, the 125 kW (170 PS) 1.4TB MultiAir, and the 173 kW (235 PS) 1750 TBi. We have also three diesel engines: 77 kW (105 PS) 1.6 JTDM or the 125 kW (170 PS) 2.0 JTDM. The new Alfa Romeo Giulietta is expected to hit the dealerships in May. Photo gallery after the jump!

Bertone Alfa Romeo Pandion ConceptBertone unveiled today at the Geneva Motor Show its brand new Pandion Concept, an aggressive yet beautiful coupe designed as a tribute to Alfa Romeos’ one hundred year anniversary.

The new concept carries a powerful 4.7-litre V8 engine, designed of course by Alfa Romeo and capable to deliver 450 hp. The new concept was designed as a compact sports car and measures 4620 mm in length, 1971 mm wide and 1230 mm high while the wheelbase measures 2850 mm. The new Pandion concept was designed by Mike Robinson and represents its first car since he took his role as Design and Brand Director at Bertone. Continued after the jump!

Pininfarina’s Alfa Romeo Concept teased again ahead of Geneva debut

Pininfarina Alfa Romeo ConceptThis is the new sketch of the Alfa Romeo Concept car that is meant to celebrate Pininfarina’s 80th anniversary and Alfa Romeo’s 100th anniversary.

Set to be launched at the Geneva Motor Show, the Alfa Romeo concept car is a two-seater spider that will be an innovative and modern interpretation of classic Alfa and Pininfarina spiders. This concept is one of two special models that will be displayed in Geneva to celebrate Alfa’s 100 years. In addition, Bertone will showcase a concept that is based on the Alfa 8C Competizione supercar. So far, these cars are being billed purely as prototypes and there are no plans for it to enter production. Furthermore, Alfa’s 100th anniversary celebrations will form the basis of this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Bertone Alfa Romeo Pandion ConceptThanks to some indiscreet sources, the first photos with the Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept created by Bertone emerged today on the web.

Details are limited regarding the concept, but we do know that it is based on the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione and is one of the two concepts designed to celebrate 100th anniversary of the Italian manufacturer. For those who don’t know, Pandion is a type of sea hawk, which apparently inspired the Italian designer in creating the concept. Alfa Romeo to return to the United States by 2012

2010 Alfa Romeo BreraThings are once again looking up for Fiat S.p.A.’s plan to return Alfa Romeo to the US by 2012, according to a Chrysler Group spokesman who recently confirmed remarks made by CEO Sergio Marchionne last Friday.

Marchionne had expressed his confidence that Alfa Romeo will reconstitute a product offering that is acceptable globally, and more in particular in the US and Canada. Press reports have talked about the brand being most likely to be back within the next two years. Alfa made its exit from the US in 1995 with a reputation for poor quality. Continued after the jump!

Alfa Romeo Spider replacement reportedly in the works

2010 Alfa Romeo SpiderAre you one of those who have been wishing for a true replacement for the classic Alfa Romeo Spider? It could be that one such model is included in this lineup of all-new cars readied in order to secure the company’s future.

Alfa Romeo would not want to shut down on the year of its 100th anniversary. Alfa Romeo was placed on probation at the start of this year by Fiat Auto boss Sergio Marchionne. Plans for new models were put on hold. The topic on the brand’s future will be taken up on a review slated for April. Alfa Romeo bosses would have to convince Marchionne of their product plan, the new Golf-sized Giulietta, which will be launched at the Geneva show in March. Geneva Preview: Bertone releases first sketch of Alfa Romeo Coupe Concept

Bertone Alfa Romeo ConceptLast Friday, we showed you the first sketch of the Alfa Romeo Concept by Pininfarina and we also confirmed a new concept made by Bertone which will be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show.

Today, Bertone revealed the first sketch of its upcoming concept based on the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione set to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Italian manufacturer. The sketch shows us a glimpse of the new concept revealing a classic Alfa Romeo front grille as well as LED front headlights. Regarding the concepts, both of them are billed purely as prototypes and no details about a possible production were revealed.
