All Bentley cars in the Continental range will be sold as flex-fuel-only vehicles

Friday, March 12th, 2010

Bentley Continental GT SupersportsBeginning in June, the Bentley cars in the Continental range (sedan, coupe and convertible) will be offered as flex-fuel-only vehicles. At the Geneva Motor Show, Bentley announced its plan to reduce its CO2 fleet emissions by 15% by 2012.

The flex-fuel version of Bentley’s 6.0-liter W-12 engine will be used in all the cars on the range. Moreover, it will be the only engine offered on the range. The engine is able to run on gasoline, E85 bioethanol or any mix of the two fuels from one fuel tank. At Geneva, Bentley unveiled the new 2011 Continental Supersports Convertible, which is claimed to be the fastest open-top car the brand has ever produced. This car is also flex-fuel. It becomes apparent now that more than half of its production in 2010 will be flex-fuel compatible. A Bentley Motors Inc. spokesman said that only three Bentley cars won’t be flex-fuel — the Brooklands coupe, Azure sedan and all new-Mulsanne sedan, which replaced the Arnage this year. It’s notable that production of the Brooklands ends this year. The spokesman further said that Mulsanne will be converted to run on ethanol in the future. However, he declined to give a specific timeframe. Potential buyers should watch out for the arrival of the Mulsanne in the US in the fourth quarter. Photo gallery after the jump!
