Production twin-turbo Camaro, a possibility says Bob Lutz

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

2001 Jay Leno CamaroWhen asked by Inside Line whether a production twin-turbo Chevrolet Camaro is in the works, General Motors’ vice-chairman Bob Lutz responded with “Perhaps.” Although this is far from an admission, it makes fans everywhere relish the possibility. Aside from this, Lutz confirmed a production version of the Camaro Synergy Concept shown at SEMA as well as an all-black special-edition model.

The fact that Chevrolet is considering producing a twin-turbo Camaro shouldn’t come as a surprise since Chevrolet did roll out a twin-turbo V6 Camaro for Jay Leno at SEMA a few weeks ago. Jay said that the car produces about 425hp so what we’re waiting for could be a very impressive Z28.

2010 Camaro Graphics revealed at the SEMA Show

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

2010 Chevrolet Camaro GraphicsChevrolet launched a graphics campaign last month asking Camaro enthusiasts to vote for their favorite design from several accessory graphics packages. The top four designs were produced and brought to the SEMA Show.

A Silver Ice Metallic Camaro will wear those designs on different days. When the convention ends, another round of voting will be conducted and the winner will be considered for future production. Brent Dewar, vice president of Chevrolet, said that Camaro has thousands of fans on the social media sites and that this is one way for the company to stay connected to its customers. Dewar expects voting to be close. He says though that the “real winners” will be the customers who personalize their Camaro with the winning graphics package. Already, the Camaro Graphics display vehicle, which is located prominently in the GM display at the SEMA Convention, has attracted much attention.

Jay Leno Camaro makes its debut at SEMA Show

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

2010 Jay Leno CamaroThe Jay Leno Camaro, showcased at this year’s SEMA Show promises to offer style, performance and efficiency in a big way.

The new car is powered by a a twin-turbocharged version of the 3.6L direct injected V6 (that comes standard on the Camaro LS and LT models) but the real power comes from a pair of Turbonetics T-3 turbochargers, force-feeding the engine about seven pounds of boost and lifting its horsepower level to about 425 hp. This means that the car has about 40% more power comparing it to the stock version and in normal driving (when the turbochargers aren’t making boost), there’s virtually no penalty in fuel economy over the non-turbocharged 3.6-liter engine. More details and photos after the jump!
