GTbyCitroen to be produced in limited edition

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

GT by CitroenTogether with the producers of the Sony Playstation game Gran Turismo, Citroen made a fresh GT concept car designated the ‘GTbyCitroen‘ that was showcased in October at the Paris Motor Show. The concept was started as part of the endorsement for the 5th title in the long-running Gran Turismo racing replication, but besides being offered as a unique vehicle in the game there were actually no real plans for it in the future.

A report said that the radically styled concept is alleged to be set for production in an exceptionally restricted run of just 20 vehicles. Jean-Pierre Ploué, the new design director for PSA Peugeot Citroen, has purportedly pointed out that there are production plans for it, even though no other details have been made available. Measuring five meter long at the maximum, the GT by Citroen highlights a whole race car inside, 21inch aluminum rims, gullwing doors, an adaptable spoiler, and a mid-engine design. While the show car was titally a study in design with no functioning internals, the variant in the game highlights an electric drivetrain propelled by a fuel cell. Photo gallery after the jump!

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

GT by CitroenWe have one reason to be very happy today! Why? Because it’s the 2008 Paris Motor Show and all the teaser campaigns are finished now! Citroen finally unveiled its GT Concept and we are speechless! Called GTbyCitroen, , the new concept is a style replica of a vehicle taken from the digital world. The new vehicle was born from the partnership between Citroen and Poliphony, known as the designer of the driving simulation game Gran Turismo 5 on Playstation 3. The GTbyCitroen features in the game an electric drive train which is powered by a fuel cell capable to provide zero emissions.

“GTbyCITROEN shows how the worlds of virtual and real-life motoring can join together to create a truly innovative partnership. We were delighted that Citroen approached us and gave us the opportunity to combine our creative strengths to build this very special concept car. To see the car take shape in game and then for real has been a truly unique experience as our work normally stays in the digital world.
