Honda recalls of 444,000 Accord and Civic vehicles

2010 Honda Accord CoupeAfter having announced two recalls for an airbag defect problem, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is asking Honda Motor Co. and Takata Corp., its airbag supplier, to explain why the first recall didn’t include the vehicles from the second recall. About 444,000 Accord and Civic vehicles are being recalled for potentially lethal airbag defects. 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour pricing announced

2010 Honda Accord CrosstourThe base EX model of Honda’s new Accord Crosstour is priced from $30,380 (including a $710 destination charge). The EX models are equipped with cloth seats, a 360-watt audio system, 17-inch aluminum wheels, power moonroof, and fog lamps as standard equipment.

The model has a 271-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 that sends power to the front wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the front-wheel-drive EX-L Crosstour is priced from $33,280 and comes with leather seats, self-dimming rear-view mirrors, 18-inch aluminum wheels, automatic headlights, a cargo cover, and a USB audio interface. For $2200 more, the EX-L models can be equipped with Honda’s navigation system. If you’re looking for an all-wheel-drive Crosstour, it will have to be an EX-L, as the driveline isn’t offered on the base EX trim. All-wheel-drive EX-L models are priced from $34,730. 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour InteriorAll of you wondered how the interior of the all-new 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour will look like, right? Well, today the Japanese manufacturer revealed the first photos showing inside of the Accord Crosstour. As you can from the pictures, the car will feature a versatile, upscale 5-passenger interior with an innovative rear storage area.

This storage area promises to bring an innovative 8-inch deep under-floor Hidden Removable Utility Box with a reversible lid with both plush-carpeted and durable-plastic sides. The interior is desifned to enhance the feeling of width and space in the passenger cabin while creating a premium and accommodating atmosphere while the inset sculpting of the instrument panel along with a wide center console increases the sense of roominess. 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour to be assembled in Ohio plant

2010 Honda Accord CrosstourOn Honda’s thirtieth anniversary of the start of motorcycle production in the United States, Honda held a tree planting ceremony and announced that the new 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour will be built at the East Liberty, Ohio assembly plant. Since East Liberty already builds Accord sedans and coupes, it can easily build the new bodystyle.

Like other American-built Hondas, most of the major components are locally sourced. Honda’s Anna, Ohio engine plant will ship over the V6 engines while the Russells Point facility will build the transmissions. The Marysville plant that started motorcycle production 30 years ago is now being transformed into a consolidation center to feed parts and systems to the other nearby assembly plants. Along the way, Honda decided that it is more sensible for them to focus on building cars in the US than bikes.

2010 Honda Accord CrosstourAfter few teasers, Honda revealed today the brand new 2010 Accord Crosstour, a new vehicle derived from Accord sedan.The 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour’s styling builds on the Accord’s familiar character lines and adds a bolder front grille complemented by a durable lower-body appearance, new C-pillars and an aggressive rear stance. The new vehicle will be positioned at the top of the Accord family and will be on sale in fall 2009 as a 2010 model. Additional details will be announced later in the year.

”Our concept is to broaden the appeal of the Accord line-up by leveraging traditional Accord strengths of fun-to-drive performance and handling while also adapting to dramatic shifts in the light truck marketplace,” said Erik Berkman, vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. ” “We know SUV buyers like the commanding view of the road that comes with a high eye-point and like the comforts of living with an SUV,” said Berkman. “This vehicle meets the needs of buyers looking for those attributes yet at the same time want an image that is different from a conventional SUV.” Photo gallery after the jump!

What fans are waiting for is the full specification list that’s expected to be released before the Frankfurt Motor Show. In these photos, the car has revised headlights and a reshaped front bumper that houses the foglights. Various media reports are saying that the Accord Crosstour is equipped with an MDX 3.8l engine, the one found in the ZDX. Engine choices include the two 2.4l four-cylinder engines (developing 177 and 190 hp) as well as the 3.5l V6, with an output of 271 hp.

2010 Honda Accord Crosstour TeaserHere is a teaser shot of the Accord Crosstour that will be officially unveiled on September 1. American Honda Motor Co., Inc. described the vehicle as an all-new crossover vehicle based on the award-winning Honda Accord. It will go on sale in the fall of 2009 and will be sold as a 2010 model.

Additional details will be released later in the year. Powering the Crosstour is an MDX 3.8l engine, the one found in the ZDX. Under the hood of the new crossover would be the two 2.4l four-cylinder engines (developing 177 and 190 hp) as well as the 3.5l V6, with an output of 271 hp. In addition, Honda is also rumored to be working on the coupe version of the Accord, expected to join the range between the TSX and TL. The coupe will be powered by a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that is expected to generate around 200 horsepower. Honda will introduce new features for the current generation Accord, including an expanded application of Bluetooth HandsFreeLink on vehicles equipped with leather seating surfaces.

2010 Honda AccordHonda announces that its 2010 Accord lineup have been fitted with new features that are set to elevate its appeal and support a legendary reputation as a class leader for quality and customer satisfaction, according to Erik Berkman, vice president of American Honda Motor Co.

These changes include an expanded application of Bluetooth HandsFreeLink on vehicles equipped with leather seating surfaces. This was previously exclusive to navigation-equipped models. The Accord Sedan EX and EX-L models have been fitted with new rear ventilation ducts. The Accord EX models get graphically optimized climate control buttons and a trunk roof lining. All models will have a more-contrasting lighter gray color theme for the climate control buttons, hence differentiating the system controls from the nearby dark gray audio system buttons. 2009 Honda Accord Type S receives new gasoline engine

2009 Honda Accord Type SLaunched recently on the European market was the Honda Accord Type S, pricing of which starts at 32,000 Euros. The model is powered by the 2.4 liter 201 hp engine coupled with a six-speed manual gearbox and comes with a range of extra equipment.

For an extra 1,900 Euros, the car is also available with an optional five-speed sequential automatic transmission. The car comes with a new aerodynamics kit, which includes front and rear spoilers and new side skirts, 18-inch alloy rims and a dark chrome front grille. The Honda Accord Type S also comes with red interior ambient lighting, aluminum pedals, aluminum and leather shift knob and leather seats. The equipment list of the Honda Accord TypeS includes a premium sound system with a six-CD changer (MP3/WMA) and ten speakers, Bluetooth handsfree with voice control and xenon headlamps. Production of car will be limited to 900 units.

Acura ZDX ConceptIn an official press release, Honda announced that its all new crossover based on the award-winning Accord will go on sale in the fall of 2009 under the ‘Accord Crosstour’ name. This means that the vehicle will be sold as a 2010 model. Unfortunately we don’t know exactly if the new vehicle will be inspired by the Acura ZDX Concept, introduced at the New York Auto Show, but as soon as we will find out something we will let you know!
