BF Performance GT600 based on Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

BF Performance GT600 - Lamborghini LP560-4The Swiss-tuning company BF Performance has come up with its own version of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4, which it claims to be “too innocent” and “neither dynamic nor individual enough.”

BF engineers are saying that its GT600 package offers just the solution. The performance of the car’s 5.2-liter V-10 engine is raised from the stock 575 hp to 600hp. In addition, torque figures increase from 398 lb-ft to 424 lb-ft. BF claims that the power boost, along with the weight reduction of 95 pounds, makes this car outclass the Murcielago LP670-4 around the Sachsenring track. The GT600 is differentiated from other Gallardos due to a carbonfiber body kit that supposedly improves the car’s handling. Continued after the jump!

Lamborghini will shift its focus on weight loss rather than power

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Lamborghini LP670-4 SuperVeloceInstead of working on increasing its horsepower, Lamborghini will now be targeting performance gains by using lighter materials to reduce vehicle weight. Its drivetrain specialists have said the company will move away from the focus on increasing engine thrust.

CEO Stephan Winkelmann said that they have reached a point where acceleration equals consumption. And when there’s more consumption, it only means that there’s increased CO2 emissions. To avoid future government regulations, Lamborghini will be spending more on r&d that seeks to drop the weight of the cars. Continued after the jump!

Monday, December 28th, 2009

2010 Lamborghini LP570-4 SVAccording to the rumors, it appears that Lamborghini, the well-known Italian sports cars manufacturer, is currently working on a hardcore version of the LP560-4 which will be named LP570-4 SV.

Just like the Murcielago LP670-4 SV, the small Lambo will carry an extra 10 hp and a stripped down interior similar to the one found on the Gallardo Superlegerra. Regarding the design, the car will receive a new front spoiler inspired by the LP670-4 SV but also a big rear wing spoiler. Also, a reworked front suspension and carbon ceramic brakes are expected. While V.I.P. clients will see the car during a small presentation in January, the rest of us will be able to see it in March at the Geneva Motor Show. Deliveries are set to start in May. According to our sources, this version of the Gallardo will not be the last one, because Lamborghini is planning to build a hardcore RWD version (dubbed LP590-2) which will come later next year or in early 2011, in order to keep production until 2012, when the successor is expected.
