Skoda starts manufacturing the 2010 Superb Estate

2010 Skoda Superb EstateCzech carmaker Skoda this week started building the 2010 Superb Combi at the Kvasiny production plant. Priced at CZK 589,900 (about US$34,600), the new mid-size station wagon is also referred to as Estate in some markets. The Superb Combi measures 4,838 mm long, 1,817 wide and 1,510 high.

It has a luggage compartment of 633 liters (1,865 liters with the rear seats folded down). In standard configuration, the car comes with a 1.4-liter TSI engine that develops 92 kW (123 horsepower) and mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The car is offered with several engine configurations, either gasoline or diesels, with outputs ranging from 125 hp to 170 hp. With regards to displacement, most of the units will be in the 1.4l range. Completing the lineup is the top of the line 3.6l V6 that develops 260 hp. Photo gallery after the jump!

2010 Skoda Superb Combi unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show

2010 Skoda Superb CombiArrival date for the 2010 Skoda Superb Estate is slated for next spring. The model, which was officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, is predicted to have a third of overall Superb sales, representing more than 1,500 units sold each year.

It’s notable that majority of sales is expected to come from fleet operators instead of private buyers. Styling on the car is Octavia-inspired. Also featured are a power panoramic roof and an electric tailgate. Stashed away in the roof is a magnetic torch that can be unclipped. While taller at the back, the estate retains the same length, wheelbase and width as the conventional Superb. Rear seating was revised to increase load space. Three petrols and three diesels from the current Superb range, linked to five and six-speed gearboxes are on the lineup. DSG dual-clutch transmissions will also be an option. Also available is a model with a Haldex developed four-wheel drive system linked to the Superb’s 3.6-litre V6 and the DSG gearbox to create a sports estate model. Frankfurt Preview: 2010 Skoda Superb Combi

2010 Skoda Superb CombiFinally, the first official images of the Skoda Superb estate have come out. Be on the lookout for the car’s official unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show. From these pictures, we can see its Octavia-inspired styling.

The estate has retained the same length, wheelbase and width with the conventional Superb but it is taller at the back. The pictures also confirm that the innovative split hatchback from the regular model will not feature on the estate. The car’s rear seating was revised to maximize load space. Capacity details of the boot are not yet available. The estate’s engine line-up will include the three petrols and three diesels from the current Superb range, linked to five and six-speed gearboxes. The buyer can opt to have DSG dual-clutch transmissions. A model with a Haldex developed four-wheel drive system is also expected to be available; it is speculated to be linked to the Superb’s 3.6-litre V6 and the DSG gearbox to create a sports estate model. 2010 Skoda Superb EstateAhead of its official unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Skoda has released an official teaser image of its Superb estate. The luggage capacity of the Superb estate is believed to be huge but exact figures are still unknown. However, it is said to be larger in capacity to the Volvo V70.

The car’s Octavia-inspired styling is clearly seen on the image, which confirms that the innovative split hatchback from the regular model is not found on the estate. While the estate is not expected to have a significantly longer wheelbase than that of the standard car, it has a large rear overhang and is taller at the back. The car also maximizes load space with revised rear seating. The engine choices will include the three petrols and three diesels from the current Superb range, linked to five and six-speed gearboxes. Another option is the DSG dual-clutch transmissions. Also expected to be available is a model with a Haldex developed four-wheel drive system that will be linked to the Superb’s 3.6-litre V6 and the DSG gearbox to create a sports estate model. Skoda has yet to release the pricing!

U.K. debut for the Skoda Superb Greenline

2008 Skoda Superb GreenlineAlthough the new Skoda Superb was recently launched, a new eco-friendly edition has been also prepared by the German manufactures especially for the U.K. market. The new Skoda Superb Greenline, features a 1.9-liter TDI engine capable to deliver 105 hp that will be fitted with a diesel particulate filter.

The new car comes with low resistance tires, a new five-speed manual gearbox , a reduced weight and the most important thing, a fuel consumption of just 5.1 liters/100 km (55.4 mpg in the U.K. or 46.1 mpg in the U.S.A. ).Price of the vehicle 16,700 GBP ($28,390 or €20,900).
