2010 Opel Astra by Irmscher: official details revealed

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

2010 Opel Astra IrmscherThis new styling kit for the latest Astra will be displayed at the Frankfurt Motor Show and will be on sale in Germany beginning September 17. Irmscher, the tuner specializing in Opel products, revised the exterior to feature a new front spoiler lip, a radiator grille panel with design rail in stainless steel or carbon look, seamlessly merged side skirts and an agile-looking rear roof spoiler. Irmscher is known for having its components much more closely integrated with the final product. To improve both handling and looks, Irmscher fitted an air diffuser and lowered the suspension by 30mm. Twin elliptical tailpipes provide an extra satisfactory beat to the sound. New “Turbo Star” 18-inch wheels with 225/45×18 tires were used but bigger 20s will be made available not long after the car’s launch. Custom leather was used for the seats, the door panels and the central armrests. Aluminum was used for the door-locking pins and the pedals while the sills are made from stainless steel. Chevrolet Cruze Bumblebee by Irmscher coming to Frankfurt

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Irmscher Chevrolet Cruze BumblebeeWe have German tuning firm Irmscher to thank for releasing an official version of the Transformers-inspired Chevrolet Cruze Bumblebee. The car would probably be one of the highlights at the Frankfurt Show where it will make its first public appearance.

The original Camaro-based Bumblebee features a yellow-and-black stripes treatment but Chevy’s designers opted for a black paint job with bright-orange racing stripes and detailing. The compact sedan’s ride height was lowered by 30mm and it was added an orange colored rear diffuser that houses a pair of new exhaust tips. The beefy 18-inch alloy wheels finished in orange and shod in 225mm wide sport tires complete the look. Chevy has no intention of enhancing the Cruze’s range with a Bumblebee edition, but Irmscher said that it will offer the package to individual customers. Photo gallery after the jump!

Opel Antara LPG by Irmscher

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Opel Antara LPG IrmscherAlong with the standard LPG conversion of your 2.4-liter gasoline version of the Opel Antara CUV, German retrofitter Irmscher is throwing in a set of new wheel rims, a roof spoiler and side skirts.

And all that for the price of €2,695. LPG has been the fuel of choice for many European drivers who want to save money. It’s much cheaper than gasoline or diesel and it’s also promoted through tax incentives, since it burns cleaner than either of the two most common liquid fuels. The downside is that LPG vehicles don’t usually have excellent performance figures. That’s probably why Irmscher thought of adding a little spice to the package. Photo gallery after the jump!

Irmscher 7 Turbo unveiled

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

Irmscher 7 TurboThe latest 7 Turbo, challenger to the Caterham, has just been unveiled by the German firm Irmscher. Built from the same platform as the Lotus Super Seven, the roadster focuses on lightweight performance which should be a daunting track car and particularly so in its most powerful setup. It comes with four levels of trim, the top of which is the 7 Turbo Sport.

Tipping the scales at only 725kg, the Turbo Sport trim comes equipped with a 280hp (209kW) output, providing it with a remarkable power-to-weight ratio of about 390hp for each ton, considerably higher than what others can manage, like Chevrolet Corvette Z06. For milder power output the available trim is the Turbo Sport model, together with a turbo model with about 210hp (157kW) and a naturally-ventilated version with almost 150hp (112kW). Each of the models comes with sports tires and a custom suspension system, and an interior that is equipped with an air-conditioning system and a soft roof that is waterproof, unlike the sparse interior of the Caterhams. Further interior feature includes uniquely designed clocks and a push-start button. The 7 Turbo is equipped with independent front and rear differentials to guarantee optimum road grip even in less than ideal situations. The price for the 210hp (156kW) version is about 55,000 Euros.
