Following a record year of export sales in 2010, Caterham Cars – a British sports car maker – will expand further internationally, particularly in countries like Japan, Italy and Germany. In 2010, Caterham and its iconic Seven design had its fifth consecutive year of continual growth in export markets. With sales topping 130, sales in France contributed to the Company’s 2010 performance overseas.
Being able to meet EU5 emissions standards means that Caterham has pan-European approval to sell cars like the Roadsport, Superlight R300, SV and CSR powered by Ford Sigma and Duratec engines. David Riley, Caterham’s International Business Development Manager, said that while most car builders suffer because of the economic climate, Caterham is “going from strength to strength.”
The company’s expanding motorsport program has also contributed to its European success. In 2010, the French R300 Cup commenced and featured grids of 40 cars racing throughout the season. Meanwhile, Caterham’s Academy series for novice racers is being rolled out in France in 2011.
