Chevrolet Aveo RS Concept revealed ahead of Detroit Auto Show

Chevrolet Aveo RS Concept

With a protruding head and taillights and 19-inch wheels, Chevrolet's Aveo RS would attract a lot of attention anywhere it goes. Chevrolet says that this is a concept that hints at the next-generation Aveo. Enthusiasts are expected to flock at the Detroit Auto Show next week where the five-door hatchback will debut. Compared to the current Aveo, this concept car is longer, wider and has more space. Chevrolet also said that this car's head and taillights took inspiration from motorcycle styling. The designers aimed for a sportier image for the Aveo budget car. The color blue is seen a lot on this car.

Its exterior is electric blue and we also see blue interior stitching and blue backlit electronic displays as well on the brake calipers, which show through the wheel openings. The handles of the car's two back-seat doors are hidden in the C-pillar and for extra space, the rear seats fold flat. In a statement, Jim Campbell, Chevrolet's general manager, said that he hopes that by displaying the Aveo RS at the show, people will be convinced that the company is as serious about redefining the Aveo and its place in the small-car segment as we were about reinventing the Malibu.

The car is equipped with a six-speed manual transmission and a 1.4-liter, 138-hp turbocharged engine that will also be available in the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. GM's plant in Orion Township, Mich., will start building the next-generation Aveo next year.
