General Motors confirms that the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible is now headed to production and will be launched in the second quarter of 2011. The trek for the Camaro Convertible was a long and tortuous one. Earlier this year, it was reported to be delayed indefinitely, even canceled.

Last May, word arrived that the car would be launched in the first quarter of 2011. GM’s financial troubles had put the car’s future in jeopardy but now that the new GM is up and running, it is moving ahead with production. GM’s Marty Padgett revealed this update in a special event held recently in Detroit.
