Chevrolet Corvette Competition Sport Package pricing announced

Despite stiff competition from Nissan GT-R and others, the Chevrolet Corvette still remains one of the top leaders where performance-cost relationship is concerned. For this year, it has been reported that Corvette plans a new 'Competition Sport' pack for its Z51 and Z06 models with the addition of extra power without sacrificing daily driving comfort. The prices for the upgrades were released by GM today as follows: for the Z51 models it's going to be $3,350 and $2,700 for the Z06 models. These numbers bring the total cost of the Z51 to $55,700 and the CS Z06 to $77,500.
It remains to be seen whether these prices are justifiable or not. Since the Corvettes are already potent with their enormous 6.3-liter and 7.0-liter LS3 and LS7 powerplant focus has been channeled to the enhancement of the suspension and the braking system. A less restrictive exhaust has upped the power on the 1LT Coupe by 6hp (4kW). The Z51 performance pack for the 1LT Coupes comes with larger brakes, more rigid springs, revised dampers, the limited slip differential receives a new cooler, and a varied axle ratio all merge to enhance track-day handling and power without going to the Z06 and ZR-1 extremes.
However, the upgrade to the Z06 that comes with the Competition Sport pack are solely superficial. The pack is rounded off by a special hood, racing pedals, bespoke race numbers, bespoke wheels, interior in ebony/titanium finish and exterior graphics. Although pricing has not been specified, the package is set to arrive in the first quarter of this year.
