Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport

One of the most talked about nickname in Corvette's famous racing tradition is coming back to the lineup. The 2010 Corvette Grand Sport was announced by Chevrolet at the 12th annual C5/C6 Corvette Birthday Bash, celebrated at the National Corvette Museum, in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The latest Grand Sport version merges the LS3-based powertrain of Corvette with special, broad-body styling and a racetrack designed suspension creating a characteristic, starting grid-ready challenger. The new model comes with coupe and roadster body styles, with a choice between a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed auto transmission. Rated at 430hp (321kW) and 424lb-ft of torque, the LS3 6.2 liter powerplant comes with a standard exhaust system.  The two-mode exhaust system option brings power up to 436hp (325kW) and 428lb-ft (580Nm). Replacing the preceding Z51 package, the Grand Sport brings a higher degree of handling performance, with broader wheels and tires, modified shock, stabilizer bar and spring specs and specific gearing. Consequently, cornering capability is enhanced to 1.0g together with a 0.2 second boost in its 0-60mph acceleration figure compared to the standard LS3-powered variants. The Grand Sport, with its special equipment, provides a unique combination of performance and features. Installed suspension packages gets near to the Z06, but comes with a removable roof on coupes as opposed to the fixed roof of the Z06, and the offering of a roadster body style. Available for the new model is a paddle-shift 6-speed auto transmission, with manual transmission the only option for the Z06. All of Corvettes exterior color finishes are likewise offered on the Grand Sport, with a Heritage pack offered which adds a famous front fender hash marks provided in four colors, together with two-tine seats with embroidery from Grand Sports. The following trim packages are offered for the Grand Sport: 1LT, 2LT, 3LT and 4LT.
