The Chevrolet Cruze has been able to keep its sales momentum from last month. In doing so, it has beaten rivals Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic in the compact car segment for the month of September. Meanwhile, the Volkswagen Jetta and Mazda3 are in a tight race. A total of 25,787 Chevrolet Cruze units were sold last month, earning it the top position. Coming in second was the Toyota Corolla with 23,026 units sold. Even when Civic sales are higher by 57% in year-over-year sales, the compact Honda still fell from second place in August to reach third in September. But when it comes to year-to-date sales, the Civic continues to have the No. 1 spot. Meanwhile, the Corolla/Matrix is behind by about 11,000 units. The Ford Focus has remained in fourth place while the Hyundai Elantra is back in fifth place with 18,305 units sold. The Volkswagen Jetta is ahead with a lead of only 719 units against the Mazda3. The Nissan Sentra took the No. 8 spot with 9345 units. However, it could go up further with the upcoming release of its new and improved model. Even when the Dodge Dart started to be available at the end of June, it’s fast gaining ground and is approaching the sales figures of the Kia Forte and Subaru Impreza.
