At the São Paulo Motor Show, General Motors unveiled the Chevrolet Onix – a new small car developed specifically for the Brazilian market. Chevrolet based the Onix on GM’s architecture of a small car but it was modified to accommodate the tough road conditions in Brazil. The Onix will be produced in Brazil as a five-door hatchback and it will be available with 1.0 and 1.4 litre engines which can operate on petrol, ethanol or a mixture of both. It is also available with five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmissions. The Onix is offered with a high level of specification, which includes Bluetooth connectivity and Chevrolet's MyLink infotainment system. Buyers can also request for special customisation items. Chevrolet marketing director Gustavo Colosi said that in developing the Onix, they aimed for a car with high levels of design, comfort and technology that surpass what customers expect.
