With a latest global car upcoming for 2009, the World Touring Car Championship is the ideal venue for Chevrolet to put its most current model in public display. This is the fresh Cruze WTCC car, which substitutes the successful Lacetti as Chevrolet’s challenger in the 2009 series.

Propelled by a 2.0-liter gasoline engine, the WTCC Cruze has a hard act to imitate, as the Lacetti won its concluding two outings for Chevrolet in Macau. But the drivers of Chevrolet are positive that the latest vehicle will be a top contender in the series, which has received international respect as one of the most thrilling tin-top series since its inauguration in 2005.

British driver Rob Huff who hails from Newmarket, Suffolk, who has been with Chevrolet from the time when it was introduced in the World Touring Cars said: “The Cruze is a great car and feels fast straight out of the box. We are obviously still at the very early stages of development but already I can feel how much better it handles and what an advantage the car’s wider track will be in a race environment”. Huff will be joined next year by Swiss race driver Alain Menu and Italian Nicola Larini. These three likewise drove for Chevrolet this year. RML Motorsport will arrange the cars for Chevrolet once more. The Wellingborough, Northants, located firm has a track record of motorsport participation with GM, Chevrolet’s parent company, and has looked after Chevrolet’s WTCC participation since 2005.

The Chevrolet Cruze, the basis of the 2009 WTCC car, will be available for sale in the UK during the first half of 2009, and will further be sold in excess of 130 countries around the globe. It is one of Chevrolet’s most significant latest versions ever, as it clearly demonstrates a fresh level of styling and excellence for the brand, both in Europe and in the USA. The car was publicly introduced to much commendation at the October 2008 Paris Motor Show.
