It’s exciting that a special Chevrolet Camaro edition inspired by Hot Wheels was unveiled at the recently held Specialty Equipment Market Association Show in Las Vegas. But what’s even better news is that limited numbers of the Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels Edition will arrive at showrooms early next year. Chevrolet showed off the production Camaro Hot Wheels car at the SEMA show a year after it presented a bright-green concept car based on the Hot Wheels toys. Even if the real-world Camaro doesn’t have an orange track with loop-the-loops, it uses one-of-a-kind Kinetic Blue paint, the front grille and rear spoiler from the Camaro ZL1, a new front lip and side skirts, a set of 21-inch wheels with a red lip, matte-black accents for the hood and between the taillights, and a variety of Hot Wheels logos.
In a statement, Chevrolet marketing vice president Chris Perry said that kids of all ages will be able to relive their memories with Chevrolet’s release of this special production model of the Camaro Hot Wheels. Buyers can choose from either a 323-hp 3.6-liter V-6 or a 426-hp 6.2-liter V-8 engine, with each accompanied with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
Chevrolet will offer both coupe and convertible models. The interior includes leather upholstery with red stitching, Hot Wheels Edition door-sill plates, red-accented floor mats, Hot Wheels logos, and the Chevrolet MyLink touchscreen infotainment system. It’s interesting how the relationship between Hot Wheels toys and the Chevrolet Camaro began. When the 1:64-scale models were launched in 1968, a Custom Camaro was one of the first 16 Hot Wheels cars ever sold.
