The highly-coveted 2011 World Green Car award went to Hyundai. This was revealed during a press conference hosted by Bridgestone Corporation and the New York International Auto Show. To get this recognition, the Chevrolet Volt made the original list of twelve new vehicles from around the globe. This list was then trimmed to 10 then three.
The three finalists include the Chevrolet Volt, the BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Edition and the Nissan Leaf. Rick Schiedt, Vice President of Chevrolet Marketing, said that choosing the Volt as the World Green Car “validate[s} the efforts of the development team to create a remarkable vehicle with the likelihood that transportation has been around the globe.”
Bridgestone Corporation (Japan) has presented the World Green Car award to Hyundai, according to the General Manager of Brand Management. He said that Hyundai seeks to take this responsibility with the help of its global family of companies.
