Chicago Auto Show: Lexus presents F-Sport Performance Accessories
There was a public announcement today made by Lexus at the Chicago Auto Show that it will widen its F-Sport Performance Accessories to accommodate parts for the GS sedan, IS AWD, and the brand new IS C convertible. Performance range before only included the IS 250 and IS 350 sedans although Lexus originally intended that parts will include other cars in its range as well.
The new GS, IS AWD and IS C F-sport add-on components will come with performance improvements like forged alloys, brake enhancements, air intake, exhaust and others. The add-ons were developed along with Toyota Racing Development (TRD) and will be available beginning June 1 2009 at North American Lexus showrooms. The current lineup will come with 18 and 19 inch alloys coming with dark graphite finish, 6-piston fixed calipers and rotors made from drilled cast-iron, brake lines in braided stainless steel, sports pads, new shocks and a set of suspension springs. The shocks and springs were designed in tandem with Bilstein and offer stiffer ride, heightened stability level and lowered body roll. With the inclusion of sway bars and a chassis brace, body roll and chassis flex is reduced further. Performance enhancement is achieved by the combination of sports exhaust and intake systems with stainless steel silencers and double-wall exhaust tips together with high-flow filters. Other add-ons consist of carbon fiber hood, high-performance clutch for models with manual transmission, and a quick gearstick capable of 35 percent reduction in shift throw.
