Nissan is offering a preview of the 2014 370Z NISMO at the Chicago Auto Show at the same time as the debut in the U.S. of the new 2013 Nissan JUKE NISMO. The automaker is also in the process of expanding the NISMO brand worldwide. The 370Z NISMO is expected to start selling at Nissan dealerships throughout the country this summer.
It uses the new NISMO design theme with unique accents to its exterior and interior. The existing 370Z NISMO straight from the factory is a tuner’s dream. It delivers a 350hp output and features racing-inspired exterior and interior styling, a specially tuned suspension and unique super-lightweight forged alloy wheels.
However, the 2014 improvements are meant to raise the car’s visual impact even further. The exterior has new dark gray coloring added to the front and rear fascias, lower side sills, side mirrors and NISMO rear spoiler, with every element (except for the side sills) featuring NISMO-style red pinstripe accents.
Furthermore, Solid Red replaces the previous Magma Red as one of four 370Z NISMO exterior color options. The interior improvements include the addition of a new steering wheel with Alcantara appointments and red accents, and a red NISMO tachometer.
The 370Z NISMO offers an exceptional performance due to an advanced Nissan FM (Front Midship) platform, refined 4-wheel independent suspension and 3.7-liter DOHC V6 engine with Variable Valve Event and Lift Control (VVEL) that produces 350 hp at 7,400 rpm and 276 lb-ft of torque at 5,200 rpm.
The VVEL system helps to maximize the intake valve open/close movements, permitting the required air to be quickly sent to the combustion chamber at the precisely optimized time.
The 370Z NISMO's improved engine power and acceleration (compared to non-NISMO 370Zs) is offered through the use of an exclusive H-configured exhaust system design and muffler tuning, together with optimized ECM (Engine Control Module) calibration.
