2014 Chicago Auto Show: Honda brings the Forza Civic Si Coupe to the real world

Article by Christian A., on February 9, 2014

The winner of the Forza Motorsport Civic Si Design Contest will be unveiled at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show. The competition was made possible by the partnership between Honda and Forza Motorsport. The winning design was submitted by Tiffany Labedz of Phoenix, Arizona, besting almost 170 entries. Her entry was adjudged as the top design by members of the Xbox Forza community.

The Forza Motorsport Civic Si is one of the first vehicles from the Forza Motorsport community transformed from a virtual model into a real one. Attendees of the Chicago Auto Show will have the chance to play the new Honda Legends Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 5 on Xbox One.

Interestingly, the new Honda Legends Car Pack features the redesigned MY2014 Civic Si Coupe, the MY1984 Mugen CRX and the MY1994 Prelude -- all of which can be downloaded on Xbox One. This marks the second time in as many years that Honda and Forza Motorsport have partnered up to unveil exclusive Honda-branded content.

Tom Peyton, assistant vice president of advertising with American Honda Motor Co., Inc., remarked that they love meeting customers “where their passion lies” noting that the racing and custom car design in Forza Motorsport is a passion for many Honda and Civic enthusiasts.

He added that taking a gaming experience like Forza and bringing it to life at the Chicago Auto Show will result to an “exciting exhibition” as well as a real-life demonstration of how cars and gaming are “increasingly intertwined.”

Alan Hartman, studio manager for Turn 10 Studios, the makers of the Forza Motorsport series, remarked that passion and creativity of the game’s fans continue to be a source of inspiration to them. He said that the Forza Motorsport Civic Si coming to life at the Chicago Auto Show is proof of the power of the game franchise to spark creative expression among car lovers and videogame fans.
