At the 2015 Chicago Auto Show, Honda revealed the first sketch with the next-generation Ridgeline pickup, which means we should expect the new vehicle as a 2017MY. According to Honda, the 2017 Ridgeline promises to take the original’s award-winning performance, comfort and utility to a new level with completely new styling that will communicate unmistakably that it is a pickup.
Looking at the photo, we can see that the new truck will abandon lots of the unique styling elements found on the previous version and will also feature more dedicated three-box styling.
Under the hood, we expect to see a 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine that could return an impressive fuel economy of 27 mpg on the highway. The Ridgeline will compete with the GMC Canyon, Chevrolet Colorado, Toyota Tacoma and the Nissan Frontier.
The rival models are available in two different cab configurations, two different engines as well as two different bed lengths and with two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.
The previous Ridgeline was offered only with a short bed and all-wheel drive, but Honda will have to offer more in order to be sure that it conquers the midsize pickup segment.
