Chrysler Group LLC has named a new chief information officer as part of the latest management changes initiated by CEO Sergio Marchionne. Filling the position is Scott Sandschafer, a former executive at CNH America LLC (a Fiat S.p.A. subsidiary). As vice president and chief information officer, Sandschafer reports directly to Marchionne. Also newly appointed is Walter Bodden as vice president and treasurer. Continued after the jump!
Bodden, who had served as Chrysler‚ chief investment officer, will now be reporting to Chief Financial Officer Richard Palmer. Jan Bertsch will be leaving Chrysler effective Nov. 30 and so her role will be split between Sandschafer and Bodden.
The management shake-ups came about as a result of Chrysler‚ bankruptcy reorganization that was completed in June. Chrysler had sold a majority of its assets to a Fiat-led group that had taken a 20% ownership in Chrysler as well as full management control.
Last October, the heads of the Dodge and Chrysler brands were replaced. On Nov. 4, Marchionne revealed a turnaround plan that aims to achieve a sales increase of more than 200%. Chrysler also aims to produce a dozen new models built on Fiat platforms and to repay debt to US taxpayers within the next 5 years.
