As part of Chrysler Group LLC’s plans in Asia and the Middle East, Mopar parts distribution centers have been opened in Shanghai and Dubai. Gorlier, chief executive officer of the Mopar parts brand, said that these are “key strategic moves” that complete the separation from Daimler. The previous owner of Chrysler (which is presently controlled by Fiat SpA) was the company known back then as DaimlerChrysler AG.

However, Daimler AG continues to provide several logistics services to Chrysler. Chrysler said recently that the China plant will give out more than 35,000 parts to over 130 dealers in China as well as to third-party distributors and partners across the Asia-Pacific region. Gorlier said that the United Arab Emirates facility will allocate more than 30,000 components to the Middle East and Africa. He added that the company is making significant expansion in the Middle East for example. Fiat acquired control of Chrysler as part of its bankruptcy reorganization in 2009. These centers will also be used by Fiat.

With the opening of these two facilities, we are expanding our parts distribution network in order to fully support the growth taking place in these markets,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar, Chrysler Group LLC’s service, parts and customer-care brand. “As our vehicle brands continue to grow internationally, Mopar will continue to look for opportunities to effectively service our dealers and distributors, and ultimately our customers.”
