Chrysler PT Cruiser production ending this summer

Chrysler Logo

A farewell party is set for the Chrysler PT Cruiser as production is scheduled to a permanent halt by the middle end of this year due to falling market sales and the absence of updates. The PT, which was began in 2000 with retro appearance and reasonable pricing, rapidly became the favorite of many but the vehicle stayed almost in the same configuration ever since from its original production except for almost unnoticeable styling changes that was applied in 2006.

The PT cruiser is the seventh car model to be shelved by Chrysler since Cerberus Capital Management took ownership of the company. The other models shelved are the Magnum wagon by Dodge together with the Durango SUV, the Crossfire by Chrysler, PT Cruiser convertible, Aspen SUV and Pacifica SUV.

Other solutions on the way is the streamlining of Chrysler dealers so that all passenger cars will ultimately be vended through Chrysler dealers, while SUVs for Jeep and trucks will be under Dodge. Chrysler is also putting the Dodge Viper up for sale, however, no buyer exists at present.
