Chrysler scraps plans to share vehicles with Nissan

Nissan and Chrysler's joint ventures are no more. During the past months, the two companies were studying the viability of these projects but very recently released a statement that says that they've decided it was in the best interests of both companies to end the partnership. The decision takes the possibility of a Ram-based Titan off the table. Any plans Nissan may have had to supply small cars to Chrysler are also terminated.
It is common knowledge that B- and C-segment compact cars are a strength of Chrysler's latest corporate overlord, Fiat SpA. We can also now forget about Chrysler's plan to sell a rebadged Versa as the Dodge Trazo in South America and a Nissan-based small car for North America in 2010 or 2011.
Even as the partnership is dissolved, Chrysler still has active agreements with JATCO, a Nissan partner responsible for building continuously variable transmissions.
