Citroen Hypnos takes the “2008 Concept Car of the Year” award

Citroen Hypnos Concept

A stunning crossover concept, the Citroen Hypnos, which thrilled the multitude at the Paris Motor Show, has lately been awarded 'Concept Car of the Year 2008' by the celebrated Autocar Magazine. Briton, Leighanne Earley, one of the vehicle's interior designers, was also awarded the title 'Autocar Courland Automotive Leader of the Future'. Xavier Duchemin, the Managing Director of Citroen UK, commented: "This is a great honour for Citroen, a fantastic accolade for the Hypnos concept and major recognition of the exciting new direction of Citroen design. Although Hypnos is a concept its innovative diesel electric hybrid will become available on our future models and this bold, confident new styling is evident in our upcoming vehicles such as the C3 Picasso."

In the interior, the Citroen Hypnos is filled with ground-breaking features and highly advanced technology such as thermo-sensitive ambient lighting, a unique faceless clock and diamond-shaped instrument clusters. The daring interior also highlights four morphologically-sculpted seats arranged in a DNA double helix-motivated arrangement with pivotal blades housing features like the air-conditioning.

The lively, rainbow coloring of the inside, balanced by the car's temperamental grey surface, challenges the predetermined ideas of the 'executive vehicle' and display Citroen's creative style and daring initiative. On the surface, the stylish and characteristic Citroen Hypnos merges the styling cues of an athletic coupe, the tranquil comfort of a saloon and the practical space of an SUV. The Hypnos also practices Citroen's green qualifications with a fresh 4WD hybrid drivetrain uniting a powerful and economical 200 hp 2.0 HDi engine with an electric motor for more efficient performance and zero-emission driving experience.
