Citroen planning new eco-friendly vehicle based on C-Cactus Concept

Citroen is planning a research on a new-generation eco-friendly automobile with basis on their concept car suggestive named C-Cactus. They aim for an original design of an environment responsible car with special style, a large spacious cabin and most important, with low fuel consumption. The crop of non-significant pieces and the use of recyclable panels will lead to an important drop of production costs keeping the vehicle in the same time attractive for the market and eco- friendly. The research is meant to provide real information on the compatibility of the new concept with the market and to find out which eco- drivetrain is more suitable. Some of the options for the powerplant are the running of a lone 1.0-litre petrol engine emitting less than 100g/km of CO2, the tandem working of a diesel and electric motor or a fully-electric model.

The Hymotion2 diesel-electric hybrid choice is said to return fuel efficiencies of over 100 mpg and emissions of just 78g/km of CO2. However, the completely electric version seems to offer even more: zero emissions, a 70mph top speed and a range of up to 100 miles.
