Citroen Revolte Concept
Since Citroen's Revolte has been badged as 'DS' at the Frankfurt Motor Show, speculations have come out that this seemed to hint at a new model. While Citroen says the concept is not likely to be mass produced, it has recently launched a range of niche products carrying the 'DS' brand with the new 2010 DS3. The Revolte appears to be inspired by 2CV styling. While it is similar in size to the Citroen C2 hatch, it has a wider footprint and a lower roof line for chunky, toy-like proportions. Citroen says that no replacement is planned for the C2 and that there is no place for the Revolte in its current range.
Carlo Bonzanigo, head of concepts at Citroen, said that the Revolte is intended to excite Germany and make a splash at the Frankfurt show. He states that the 2CV was very popular in Germany in its last years but the C2 won't be replaced and the Revolte is not a teaser for production. Apparently, the people's response during the Frankfurt show will be considered in Citroen's decision on whether there's a market for a modern interpretation of the iconic 2CV in a smaller, city-friendly package.
Said to be the key to the 2CV styling theme are the bulging front and rear arches, narrow-waisted body, circular door openings and the contrast-color roof, a nod to the folding fabric roof of the original. Like the Mini clubdoor, the rear doors open rearwards to reveal a three-seat interior, which features a single driver'sseat and a rear "lounge" bench for two passengers. Creating a luxury car interior is the mix of luxurious and technical materials, such as woven black leather, velvet and aluminum. Powering the car is a petrol/electric dual-model hybrid set-up, but it can also run as a pure electric car if necessary.
