The new Clio Renault Sport 200 was introduced at the Geneva event today and has been observed to come in two versions, the 200 and the 200 Cup. Both variants come with an extra 3hp above the present version. Although this looks like an insignificant boost, but performance has been raised to a surprising level. There are some tricks and upgrades that point to a significant ride improvement more particularly with the 200 Cup version. On one hand, the 200 is equipped with a little extra comfort, the 200 Cup aims largely at classicists. It is equipped with a more rigid chassis and about 36 kilograms less heavy than the 200. Further weight loss is gained since the 200 Cup comes with a lesser equipment level.
Moreover, the 200 Cup comes with a 7mm lower, road-gripping chassis and a change in the calibration of the steering provides a more instantaneous response with improve driver feedback from the wheels. The two models keep the aerodynamic design provided by Renault's experience with the F1. Unique mountings such as front-wing air-extractors equipped with a splitter paired with a rear air diffuser makes the 200 standout in its segment.
Consequently, air flow has been enhanced by 0.02 to a final drag coefficient of 0.75. Also, the 2.0-liter 16 valve naturally ventilated powerplant has received some adjustments bumping power by 3 horses to 200hp while reducing CO2 emissions. Acceleration is likewise enhanced by cutting gear time via the lowering of the first three gear ratios.
