Dacia Duster coming to Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

Dacia and Renault are working on a version of the Ice, an incarnation of the Dacia Duster intended specifically for one of the most famous events in the world, the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. This was reported by Le Blog Auto, which also claimed that this version will deliver no less than 850hp. Late last year, a new version of the Dacia Duster, one of the least expensive SUVs on the market, came out. The 3.0l V6 powered Ice, which was meant for Alain Prost and his take at the Trophee Andros, appeared to be years ahead of the regular production versions of the model.
A source said that Tork Engineering, the company that created the Ice, is leading this project. A V8 engine will be sourced from a Nissan GT-R and will be fitted on a Duster body that would not be heavier than 900 kg. In addition, the car and the run for the Pikes Peak would be trusted to Jean-Philippe Dayraut, a rival of Prost in the Trophee Andros.
This report has yet to be confirmed but this actually shouldn’t come as a surprise since the carmaker intended for the Duster to be more than a low cost model, such as the Logan or the Sandero. [via LeBlogAuto]
